EMS — electrical muscle stimulation — sends electrical impulses to motor nerves, causing the muscles beneath the electrodes to contract. Electrical muscle stimulation has been studied for decades for muscle activation and strengthening.
JOVS markets a 15-minute session with the Sports Bra as equivalent to “1,500 Pilates moves.” We wouldn't interpret that literally. Electrically induced muscle contractions aren't the same thing as performing 1,500 complete Pilates movements.
But they don't need to be.
