There Is Real Research Behind Facial EMS

Facial electrical stimulation isn't simply a beauty trend. Human clinical research has investigated neuromuscular electrical stimulation of facial muscles and found measurable changes following repeated treatment.

In one randomized controlled study involving 108 women, 12 weeks of facial neuromuscular electrical stimulation produced an average 18.6% increase in thickness of the zygomatic major muscle, one of the muscles involved in cheek movement. Participants also reported improvements in facial firmness, tone and lift.

That study was not performed on the JOVS mask, so it should not be interpreted as a promise that this device will produce the same result. It does, however, help explain why facial EMS is interesting: muscle stimulation addresses a different component of facial appearance than topical skincare alone.
